Appointment scheduling

Please review the information below and let us know if you have any questions or need help making an appointment.

Income Qualifications

Minn-Kota PAAWS exists to help pet owners who cannot afford spay/neuter services at a full-service clinic.  We require each client to attest that they meet one of the following income qualifications:


1. You participate in a needs-based public assistance program.

  • Food Support
  • HUD Section 8 Housing
  • Medicaid
  • Medical Assistance (MA, MA-EPD), MinnesotaCare
  • Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC)
  • Social Security Disability (SSDI)
  • State Unemployment Benefits
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • VA Disability


2. You earned less than $23,760 as an individual or less than $48,600 as a family in    the past year.


3. You are the caretaker of feral or free-roaming cats.


4. You live in the [Pets for Life] program target area.  Wondering if you qualify?

Pet Age Requirements

Pets need to be 3 months old and 3 pounds in order to be spayed/neutered at Minn-Kota PAAWS.

Cats Cradle Adopters

Congratulations on your new furry family member!  Please call to schedule your adopted cat's appointment.  Remember to show your Cats Cradle Adoption folder at check-in.  If you use our online appointment portal and complete payment for your cat's surgery we will be unable to issue a refund.

Payment

Payment is due in full at the time you make your appointment.  


We accept all major credit/debit cards through our online appointment portal.  We do not accept Care Credit.  If you make an appointment in person you can use cash.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

We understand that for reasons beyond your control you may need to reschedule your pet’s spay/neuter appointment. 

We require 2 business days’ notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.  

  • Appointments cancelled within 2 business days of the appointment date will be refunded in full, less a $10 processing fee per appointment.    
  • No shows or appointments cancelled with less than 2 business days' notice are non-refundable.

We hope that with this change we can get you in sooner for your appointments and help more people and pets than ever before. spay/neuter & Service pricing

Spay (Female): $90  

Neuter (Male): $70


All surgery prices include: 

  • Rabies Vaccine
  • FVRCP (Distemper) Vaccine 
  • 24 hour injectable pain medications  
  • Nail Trim


If your pet is found to be a Cryptorchid (having an undescended testicle) there will be an additional charge of $25-$75, depending on the complexity of surgery.


Spay (Female):  $150 

Neuter (Male):  $135


All surgery prices include:

  • Rabies Vaccine
  • DA2PPV Vaccine
  • 24 hour injectable pain medications
  • Three days of take home pain medications
  • Elizabethan collar (cone)
  • Nail trim


Additional charges apply for dogs over 69 lbs:

  • 70-89 lbs:  additional $35
  • 90-109 lbs:  additional $70
  • 110-129 lbs:  additional $100
  • Over 130 lbs:  Please call for pricing


Brachycephallics (flat/smoosh faced breeds like pugs or french bulldogs)  will receive Cerenia pre-op; additional cost $15.


If your pet is found to be a Cryptorchid (having an undescended testicle) there will be an additional charge of $50-$100, depending on the complexity of surgery.


Any of these services can be added to your pet's appointment, either at the time of scheduling or the day you drop your pet off for surgery.


  • Buprenorphine SR:  72 Hour Injectable Pain Medication ($10)
  • Cerenia:  (anti-nausea medication, $15)
  • Microchip ($20)
  • Soft Paws Nail Caps ($20)
  • Revolution (ear mite treatment, $8)
  • FIV/FeLV Testing ($25)
  • Fecal testing (bring a sample less than 24 hours old) $20
  • Dewormer ($5-$18)
  • Pre-Operative Bloodwork (Optional, $55)


Any of these services can be added to your pet's appointment, either at the time of scheduling or the day you drop your pet off for surgery. 

  • Microchip ($20)
  • Bordetella Vaccine (For prevention of kennel cough, $15)
  • Cerenia (anti-nausea medication, $15)
  • Heartworm Testing ($20)
  • Fecal testing (bring a sample less than 24 hours old, $20)
  • Dewormer ($5-$18)
  • Pre-Operative Bloodwork (Optional, $55).

Minn-Kota PAAWS is accepting donations of new and gently used pet supplies for our Community Pet Supply Closet.  These supplies will be a complement to our food pantry and will be available to support struggling pet owners.  Donations can be dropped off during our regular business hours or you can email Erin to arrange pick up erin@minnkotapaaws.org
