[Pets for Life] (PFL) is a grant program that connects pet owners from under-served neighborhoods with various pet resources.
The [Pets for Life] grant is meant to address inequity and lack of access to adequate pet care in our community. This is done through focused door-to-door, continuous outreach.
[Pets for Life] aims to bridge gaps between pet owners and service providers by offering free spay/neuter surgeries, as well as supplies and ongoing resources.
"A love for pets transcends socio-economic boundaries,
and no one should be denied the opportunity to experience the
benefits and joy that comes from the human-animal bond."
This program is possible through a grant from the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Since 2015, this program has provided free spay/neuter surgery and other supplies & services for over 4,000 pets in our community.

Your choice to utilize the [Pets for Life] grant program implies consent for the following policies:
This policy is in effect to ensure that all of our Pets for Life grant recipients have the opportunity to be seen in a timely manner.
Available appointments are in high demand, and your early cancellation will give another client and their pet the opportunity to have access to timely care. No-Shows and late-cancellations cause problems that go far beyond a financial impact on our practice. When an appointment is made, it takes an available time slot away from another patient in need.
A cancellation made with less than 24 hours notice significantly limits our ability to make the appointment available for another pet. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice, and arrivals more than 30 minutes late are considered NO-SHOWS.
1. As a courtesy, we make reminder calls and/or send reminder text messages, one to two days prior to scheduled appointments.
*** Please note, if a reminder call/message is not received, the cancellation/No-Show policy remains in effect.
2. If less than 24 hours notice is given, it will be documented as a “No-Show”
3. Patients who miss two (2) or more appointments within a six (6)-month period will be unable to utilize the PFL Grant program, unless they consent to allow a [Pets for Life] staff member to provide transportation for their pets, to and from their appointment(s).
4. After three (3) No-Shows/late-cancellations, we (Minn-Kota PAAWS/PFL) reserve the right to decline any further appointments for a minimum of one (1) year.
In the event of an actual emergency, consideration will be given, and a one-time exception may be granted.
We understand that situations arise in which you must cancel your appointment.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please let our staff know and we will be glad to clarify any questions or concerns.
